Turkmenistan and Japanese Businesses Discuss Green Energy and Sustainable Projects

As part of his working visit to Japan to attend the first “Central Asia – Japan” dialogue summit, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov held talks in Tokyo with executives of leading Japanese companies.

According to the newspaper “Turkmenistan,” the meeting took place at the Palace Hotel Tokyo and brought together members of the Turkmen–Japanese Economic Committee along with senior representatives of major Japanese corporations, including Mitsubishi Corporation, Sumitomo Corporation, Komatsu Ltd., Toyo Engineering Corporation, Kawasaki Heavy Industries, Tokyo Boeki Eurasia Limited, Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, Sumitomo Heavy Industries, Tohkemy Corporation, and ITOCHU Corporation.

President Berdimuhamedov thanked the Japanese business community for initiating the meeting and emphasized its importance for further strengthening bilateral economic cooperation. He noted that Turkmenistan remains committed to deepening its well-established partnership with Japanese companies while simultaneously pursuing new and more ambitious objectives.

Highlighting Japan as a model of balanced high-tech development, innovative economic management, industrial growth, and environmental responsibility, the President outlined Turkmenistan’s comprehensive approach to transforming its economic framework. Priority areas include the adoption of innovative development strategies, accelerated industrialization, the transition to green energy, diversification of the energy sector, and the expansion of national and international transport and logistics networks.

Acknowledging the long-standing contribution of Japanese companies to Turkmenistan’s economic capacity, the President invited them to engage in new investment projects. Specific areas proposed for cooperation included water supply and treatment systems, waste management, renewable and hydrogen energy, and the shift toward a circular economy.

Concluding the meeting, Japanese business leaders expressed confidence that the President’s visit would serve as a catalyst for implementing agreed initiatives and reaffirmed their readiness to continue supporting the advancement of Turkmen–Japanese cooperation.

Cold Weather and Mixed Precipitation Expected Across Turkmenistan

Weather conditions across Turkmenistan are expected to turn colder during the week, with temperatures dropping as low as minus eight degrees Celsius and mixed precipitation forecast in several regions. This information was released by the Hydrometeorological Service of the Ministry of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan.

In Ashgabat, variable cloud cover is expected, with light rain mixed with snow likely toward the end of the week. Winds will shift from southeast to northwest, occasionally strengthening to 15 meters per second. Nighttime temperatures in Turkmenistan’s capital will range from slight frost to +2°C, while daytime highs will reach between +3°C and +11°C.

The Balkan region of Turkmenistan will see precipitation mainly in the second half of the week. Nighttime temperatures will fluctuate from −4°C to +5°C, with daytime readings rising to +14°C, though coastal areas will remain cooler. Wind speeds may reach up to 17 meters per second.

In Ahal province of Turkmenistan, rain mixed with snow is expected at both the beginning and end of the week. Temperatures will drop to −5°C at night and rise to around +12°C during the day.

Similar weather patterns are forecast for Mary and Lebap provinces of Turkmenistan, where mixed precipitation will occur intermittently and daytime temperatures may reach +13–14°C.

The coldest conditions in Turkmenistan are anticipated in Dashoguz province, where nighttime temperatures could fall to −8°C, with daytime values ranging from −2°C to +7°C.
