Representatives from Turkmenistan achieved an outstanding result at the final global stage of the Information and Communications Technology (ICT) competition organized by the global tech giant Huawei. During the prestigious event held from June 2 to 5 in Shenzhen, People's Republic of China, the Turkmen student team earned 3rd place in the highly technical "Practical competition network tracking" category. This achievement was officially announced by the press service of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan.

The national team competed under the strategic leadership of Shirmuhammet Wepayew, Chief Specialist of the Digital System and Information Security Department of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan. The delegation comprised brilliant computer science and engineering students from key national universities:

Arslan Italmazow — Student at the Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan;

Yslam Hayytmuhammedow — Student at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University;

Gurban Orazmammedow — Student at the Yagshygeldi Kakayev International Oil and Gas University.

The core objective of the "Practical competition network tracking" category was to comprehensively evaluate advanced skills in enterprise network architecture design, configuration management, and cyber security protocols. The final tournament involved a rigorous eight-hour practical laboratory examination. Competitors from 25 nations were required to resolve complex real-time operations, including network routing, performance optimization, and diagnosing critical architectural faults. The Turkmen team demonstrated exceptional problem-solving capabilities, securing 3rd place and earning immense praise from the expert panel of judges.

The scale of the Huawei ICT Competition 2025–2026 Global Final is massive, initially drawing more than 1,180,000 students and academic mentors from over 2,000 universities across 100 countries. The tournament progressed through three distinct tiers: national trials, regional qualifiers, and the ultimate global final. Only 500 elite finalists representing 170 teams from more than 40 nations successfully advanced to the world stage in Shenzhen.
