Plans have been announced to construct a modern observatory for the scientific study of celestial bodies at the Bazar Amanov State Children's Library in Turkmenistan. This initiative is designed to broaden the scientific horizons of young people and foster an early interest in astronomy and space exploration. The project represents a significant step in transforming traditional libraries into dynamic, multi-disciplinary learning environments.

The proposal was unveiled during a working visit by the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, to the city of Arkadag. According to reports, the modernization of the library’s facilities will include the installation of a high-powered telescope and the creation of a specialized observation room. The project is being facilitated with the support of the Charitable Fund for Assistance to Children in Need of Care, emphasizing the social and educational value of the venture.

The new observatory will provide children and students with the opportunity to conduct real-time astronomical observations under scientific guidance. By integrating technology such as telescopes and digital mapping tools, the library aims to provide a hands-on experience that complements academic learning. The facility is expected to become a hub for interactive science education, hosting workshops and stargazing events for the public.

Currently, preparatory work is underway to ensure the observatory meets international technical standards. The addition of an astronomical center to the children’s library highlights Turkmenistan’s commitment to innovative educational infrastructure. Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
