The implementation of the Turkmenistan–Afghanistan–Pakistan–India (TAPI) natural gas pipeline project has entered a phase of active construction within Afghan territory. Current operations are centered on laying a 153-kilometer section connecting Serhetabat in Turkmenistan with Herat in Afghanistan. The State Concern "Turkmengaz" serves as the general contractor for this strategic energy initiative, with the construction processes executed directly by the "Turkmengazgurlushyk" Closed Joint-Stock Company.

The workforce deployed at the construction sites comprises approximately 700 Turkmen specialists, including experienced engineers, welders, gas technicians, and construction personnel. To ensure high efficiency, the project utilizes more than 250 units of specialized heavy machinery from leading international manufacturers. This fleet includes Zoomlion bulldozers, Komatsu excavators, pipe-layers, pipe-carriers, and high-capacity mobile cranes adapted for complex infrastructural tasks.

Material and technical procurement for this transnational pipeline section is regulated through 17 international supply contracts. A key agreement was signed with the Indian manufacturer MAN Industries Ltd for the production and delivery of over 150,000 meters of steel pipes, valued at more than 190 million USD. To date, the company has manufactured over 108,000 meters of pipe products, which have been transported to the Afghan construction zones via major transit hubs, including the ports of Poti, Alyat, and the Turkmenbashi International Seaport.

Geodetic survey operations have been fully completed across the entire 153-kilometer route, and the cleared alignment has been formally transferred to the construction divisions. Current site operations include clearing and leveling the right-of-way, welding pipe segments, insulating joints, trenching, and lowering the pipeline string into position. Simultaneously, infrastructure development is underway, with over 107 kilometers of technical patrol roads already constructed to facilitate future maintenance and ensure operational security.
