The casting process involved a nationwide digital call followed by rigorous in-person auditions across major cities in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Casting directors Emily Brockmann and Lucy Bevan shared insights into the discovery of the new trio. Dominic McLaughlin, cast as Harry Potter, stood out during auditions in Glasgow with a display of "pure confidence" while reciting a personal poem. Alastair Stout, chosen to play Ron Weasley, was discovered in Manchester and immediately impressed the team with his innate charm and wit. Meanwhile, Arabella Stanton secured the role of Hermione Granger in London by demonstrating a versatile acting range that balanced intellectual seriousness with comedic timing.

The search for the "Boy Who Lived" was particularly challenging, as the team looked for specific traits such as "distrust of the adult world" and a palpable sense of "vulnerability and loneliness."
