The production team behind HBO’s highly anticipated "Harry Potter" series has conducted an extensive search for its new leads, reviewing more than 40,000 young hopefuls for the roles of Harry, Ron, and Hermione. Details of this massive undertaking were revealed in a special feature titled "Finding Harry: The Craft Behind the Magic Scene," released to mark the 25th anniversary of the first film's debut. The casting process involved a nationwide digital call followed by rigorous in-person auditions across major cities in the United Kingdom and Ireland.

Casting directors Emily Brockmann and Lucy Bevan shared insights into the discovery of the new trio. Dominic McLaughlin, cast as Harry Potter, stood out during auditions in Glasgow with a display of "pure confidence" while reciting a personal poem. Alastair Stout, chosen to play Ron Weasley, was discovered in Manchester and immediately impressed the team with his innate charm and wit. Meanwhile, Arabella Stanton secured the role of Hermione Granger in London by demonstrating a versatile acting range that balanced intellectual seriousness with comedic timing.

The search for the "Boy Who Lived" was particularly challenging, as the team looked for specific traits such as "distrust of the adult world" and a palpable sense of "vulnerability and loneliness." According to the creators, the goal was to find actors who could carry the weight of a character that holds global cultural significance. The production emphasized that the emotional depth of the candidates was just as important as their physical resemblance to the descriptions in J.K. Rowling’s original novels.

The first season, comprised of eight episodes, is set to premiere on HBO and HBO Max on December 25, 2026. Filming began in July 2025 at the historic Leavesden Studios, the original home of the film franchise. Unlike the previous cinematic adaptations, this new project aims to provide a more faithful and comprehensive screen version of the books, dedicating an entire season to each novel. This long-form storytelling format will allow for a deeper exploration of the wizarding world and its complex characters over the coming decade.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
