During his state visit to Uzbekistan, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov visited Tashkent’s “Yangi Uzbekistan” Park on Monday, where he laid flowers at the Monument of Uzbekistan’s Independence, according to the newspaper “Neutral Turkmenistan.”

“Yangi Uzbekistan” (“New Uzbekistan”) Park spans more than 100 hectares and is considered the country’s largest cultural and recreational complex. It was inaugurated on August 31, 2021, in celebration of the 30th anniversary of Uzbekistan’s independence.

It was previously reported that the Turkmen leader arrived in Uzbekistan on November 16 to participate in the 7th Consultative Meeting of the Heads of State of Central Asia. The visit’s agenda includes high-level negotiations and the opening ceremony of a new Turkmen–Uzbek border trade center.

The cross-border commercial zone is being developed near the “Shavat” checkpoint in Uzbekistan’s Khorezm region and the “Dashoguz” checkpoint in Turkmenistan’s Dashoguz province. Construction began in October 2022 and includes plans for trade pavilions, warehouses, and container handling areas.
