President Attends Independence Day Flower-Laying Ceremony in Ashgabat

Source

Turkmenistan marked the 34th anniversary of its independence with an official ceremony in Ashgabat, where President Serdar Berdimuhamedov laid flowers at the Monument of Independence.

This ceremonial act symbolizes both the memory of past milestones and the nation's progress since achieving sovereignty. Over the past 34 years, Turkmenistan has made significant strides in economic development and has established itself as a key player in the energy sector.

Holding the world’s fourth-largest natural gas reserves, Turkmenistan continues to develop large-scale energy and infrastructure projects, such as the North-South transit corridor. At the same time, the country is expanding its export capacity in the textile and agricultural sectors.

Independence was formally declared in 1991 following a nationwide referendum, and the decision was codified by the Supreme Council. September 27 is a national holiday in Turkmenistan, celebrated with events across the country.
