On September 15, Bassam Ahmed Ali Marzouk, the newly appointed Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Kingdom of Bahrain to Turkmenistan (with residence in Ankara), officially commenced his diplomatic mission.
During his visit, he presented his credentials to Chairwoman of the Mejlis of Turkmenistan, Dunyagozel Gulmanova, and held a meeting with Deputy Foreign Minister Serdar Muhammetdurdyyev.
At the Mejlis, Gulmanova conveyed congratulations on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan and wished the ambassador success in strengthening bilateral ties. The ambassador was briefed on Turkmenistan’s domestic and foreign policy priorities and the role of the national parliament.
The sides discussed opportunities for cooperation in various fields — political, economic, cultural, and humanitarian — with special focus on developing interparliamentary dialogue.
At the Foreign Ministry, Ambassador Marzouk praised the hosting of the 3rd UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries in the Avaza National Tourist Zone. He emphasized Turkmenistan’s role as a peace-promoting nation in the region and pledged to actively contribute to advancing Bahrain–Turkmenistan relations.
