Mothers of Eight or More Children Honored with "Ene mähri" Title in Ashgabat
09 Mar. 07:59In a significant tribute to International Women’s Day, a state ceremony was held in the capital to confer the honorary title of "Ene mähri" upon mothers who have given birth to and raised eight or more children. Following the presidential decree by Serdar Berdimuhamedov, recipients were presented with official insignia, recognizing their vital contribution to the nation's demographic and moral development.
The event highlighted Turkmenistan's comprehensive social welfare programs, which offer various privileges to women, ranging from modern housing to professional opportunities. The speakers emphasized that the increasing role of women in the socio-political sphere is a fundamental pillar of the country's sustainable growth. Expressing their gratitude, the honored mothers thanked the National Leader and the President for the enduring state support and the high esteem in which motherhood is held in Turkmen society.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
