Member of the Halk Maslahaty Proposes Suspension of Salary and Pension Increases
At a session of the Halk Maslahaty held in the “Maslahat Köşgi” Palace in Ashgabat, Council of Elders member and honorary elder Yazmyrat Atamyradov proposed suspending the regular increase of salaries, pensions, state benefits, and student stipends in Turkmenistan.
He argued that the country’s social conditions have reached a high level, and that the government has already provided significant support to the population. He highlighted the creation of new jobs, the provision of housing for thousands of families, and the development of the city of Arkadag and new settlements in Ahal and Dashoguz provinces.
According to Atamyradov, the benefits provided in Turkmenistan are unmatched globally, and the majority of families already have everything they need. He suggested reallocating funds that would have been used for further increases toward national development and other key areas.
Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty and National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, thanked Atamyradov for his remarks and recommendations.
As of 2025, the minimum monthly salary in Turkmenistan is 1,410 manats, and the minimum pension is 550 manats.
