India's federal administration has announced a key change within its cabinet hierarchy following recent administrative disruptions. According to statements released by the President’s Office, Pralhad Joshi has been designated to temporarily oversee the Ministry of Education. He will manage these duties concurrently with his existing portfolio as Minister of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution.

The administrative shift follows the official resignation of former Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, which was formally accepted by President Droupadi Murmu. The resignation came in the wake of significant public fallout regarding security breaches and unauthorized disclosures of entrance examination data for national medical training institutions.

The systemic irregularities prompted widespread demonstrations led by student organizations and youth advocacy groups. The protest movement culminated in a major march toward the national parliament complex, where demonstrators voiced demands for institutional accountability, systemic educational reforms, and immediate structural changes within the ministry.

Following his departure, the outgoing minister reflected publicly on his long-standing dedication to educational policy and national development frameworks. Nevertheless, the government moved swiftly to transition leadership in an effort to restore stability and trust across the national academic framework.
