During the international forum dedicated to the 30th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s permanent Neutrality, President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov noted that the policy of neutrality has become a fundamental pillar supporting Turkmenistan’s stable development, economic transformation, and strengthened international standing.

The Kyrgyz leader highlighted Turkmenistan’s contribution to enhancing energy security and developing transport and logistics infrastructure across Central Asia. He pointed to the positive experience of cooperation in the electricity sector and emphasized the strategic importance of expanding regional transport and transit corridors.

Sadyr Japarov also confirmed Kyrgyzstan’s support for Turkmenistan’s initiative to declare 2025 the International Year of Peace and Trust. In addition, he highly praised Turkmenistan’s role in promoting peaceful dialogue in Central Asia, including through hosting international forums and actively participating in consultative meetings of regional heads of state.

In conclusion, the President of Kyrgyzstan described Turkmenistan’s experience as a successful model for advancing peace, good-neighborly relations, and sustainable development. He reaffirmed Kyrgyzstan’s readiness to continue contributing to efforts aimed at strengthening stability and cooperation in Central Asia.

Turkmenistan Proposes Establishing a University of Peace and Neutrality in Cooperation with the UN

Speaking at the International Forum of Peace and Trust held in Ashgabat, President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov put forward an initiative to establish a University of Peace and Neutrality in partnership with the United Nations. The proposal is aimed at strengthening the practical dimension of neutrality, as well as advancing research and educational activities in this field.

According to the head of state, the proposed university would build upon the United Nations’ extensive experience in peacebuilding and serve as a platform for applying the broad range of political and diplomatic tools of preventive diplomacy. The institution would also contribute to a deeper academic understanding and practical implementation of neutrality.

President Berdimuhamedov expressed hope that this initiative would receive international support and stated Turkmenistan’s readiness to engage in detailed discussions with partners on both substantive and organizational aspects of the project.

He further emphasized that Turkmenistan’s example of pursuing constructive, mutually beneficial, and friendly international relations based on a policy of neutrality demonstrates the significant potential of neutrality and its application in various regions of the world.
