The State Customs Service of Turkmenistan recently hosted an international conference titled "The Role of the Regional Training Center in Strengthening Interregional Connectivity" on April 29-30. The Ashgabat-based forum served as a strategic venue for high-level officials and technical experts to discuss the advancement of customs procedures and human resource development. This gathering emphasized the growing importance of academic and operational synergy among Regional Training Centers (RTCs) worldwide.

The conference brought together a diverse group of participants from RTCs located in Russia, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan, with additional representatives from Japan and Hungary joining via video link. Key stakeholders, including officials from the World Customs Organization (WCO) Secretariat and the Regional Office for Capacity Building in Baku, engaged in the discussions. Furthermore, customs delegations from Azerbaijan, Georgia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan provided regional perspectives on harmonizing cross-border administrative standards.

The primary focus of the deliberations centered on professional capacity building and the exchange of innovative training methodologies for customs personnel. Delegates explored practical ways to foster cooperation between training hubs to ensure a more resilient and efficient international trade environment. The presence of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and various international organizations underscored the diplomatic significance of the event in fostering regional stability.

The second day of the program featured an on-site visit to the WCO Regional Training Center in Turkmenistan, where participants reviewed the facility's state-of-the-art educational infrastructure. A bilateral meeting between the deputy heads of the customs services of Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan was also held on the sidelines, focusing on specific collaborative projects. These high-level interactions reflect a shared commitment to enhancing regional logistics and securing global supply chains through advanced customs expertise.
