Garabogaz customs post named “Customs Post of the Year 2025” in Turkmenistan

In Turkmenistan, the State Customs Service has officially announced the results of its annual professional competitions held in honor of Defender of the Fatherland Day. The summary ceremony took place at the Central Office of the Service and included the contests “Exemplary Customs Officer – 2025” and “Customs Post of the Year – 2025.”

Based on a comprehensive assessment of professional performance, personal contribution to strengthening law and order in Turkmenistan, and consistent fulfillment of official duties, several customs officers were recognized as winners of the “Exemplary Customs Officer” competition.

The title “Customs Post of the Year – 2025” was awarded to the Garabogaz customs post operating at the highway checkpoint of Balkan velayat in Turkmenistan. The decision took into account strict adherence to discipline, proper maintenance of facilities, improvement of surrounding areas, and outstanding service indicators throughout 2025.

An official certificate was presented to the head of the Garabogaz customs post in Turkmenistan.

















Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
