Eleven Agreements Signed During the President of Turkmenistan’s Visit to Japan

The official visit of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov to Japan resulted in the signing of an extensive package of bilateral documents aimed at strengthening cooperation between Turkmenistan and Japan across multiple strategic sectors. In total, eleven agreements and memoranda were concluded during the visit.

According to official reports, the President of Turkmenistan held meetings in Tokyo with executives of leading Japanese corporations, focusing on long-term economic and technological partnership. These discussions led to formalized agreements covering transportation, energy, communications, finance, education, and industrial development, highlighting the broad scope of cooperation involving Turkmenistan.

The signed documents include memoranda and agreements between Turkmenistan’s state institutions and major Japanese companies such as Sumitomo, Mitsubishi, Sony, Mizuho Bank, and Kawasaki Heavy Industries. Special emphasis was placed on digital transformation, the application of artificial intelligence in Turkmenistan, and the advancement of modern communication and media technologies.

A separate group of agreements addresses academic and scientific collaboration. Universities of Turkmenistan and Japan agreed to expand institutional partnerships, implement joint educational initiatives, and promote student exchange programs, supporting the development of skilled professionals in Turkmenistan.

Several documents are directly linked to the implementation and maintenance of large-scale industrial and petrochemical projects in Turkmenistan. These agreements reaffirm the strategic nature of Turkmenistan–Japan relations and establish a solid framework for future bilateral cooperation.

National Leader of the Turkmen people pays working visit to Balkan region of Turkmenistan

The National Leader of the Turkmen people, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, paid a working visit to the Balkan region of Turkmenistan today. During the trip, the Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty of Turkmenistan reviewed issues related to the high-level organization of major international events scheduled to be held in Turkmenistan in 2026, in line with the country’s foreign policy strategy.

As part of the visit, the National Leader of Turkmenistan examined project proposals concerning the readiness of facilities planned for international events along the Caspian Sea coast. Attention was given to the landscaping of surrounding areas, the modern design of entrance zones, the level of interior equipment, the layout of venues for various stages of international forums, and the progress of interior finishing works in buildings intended for large-scale conferences.

Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov emphasized that all necessary conditions must be created for international guests attending events in Turkmenistan. He also highlighted the importance of fully integrating digital technologies into these facilities and provided guidance to relevant officials.

During the working trip, the National Leader conducted an aerial inspection by helicopter over the Avaza National Tourist Zone, where he reviewed ongoing construction projects. Upon completion of the visit to the Balkan region of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov returned to Ashgabat.
