Advancing Academic Partnership: Ambassador of Italy Visits the International University for the Humanities and Development
08 Jul. 08:19In a bid to strengthen bilateral humanitarian cooperation, the leadership of the International University for the Humanities and Development (IUHD) held a meeting with the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Italian Republic to Turkmenistan, Martin Brook. This visit marks a significant milestone in implementing the strategy to expand international academic engagement and integrate Turkmen higher education into the global educational space.
During the constructive talks, the sides discussed a wide range of initiatives aimed at establishing direct contacts between IUHD and leading universities in Italy. Primary focus was placed on advancing academic mobility, which opens up prospects for students and faculty members to pursue internships and advanced studies at prestigious Italian academic centers.
Furthermore, the parties expressed strong interest in launching joint scientific and educational projects covering highly demanded disciplines such as world economy, diplomacy, and the humanities. Expanding linguistic programs and organizing cultural and educational events will serve as an important addition to this cooperation, allowing for deeper study of the Italian language and cultural heritage directly within the university.
The implementation of these initiatives is designed to provide Turkmen students with access to high European educational standards, significantly boosting their competitiveness on the international stage. This format of educational diplomacy, built upon combining the knowledge and progressive expertise of both countries, creates a solid foundation for cultivating a highly qualified talent pool. The sides expressed readiness for a swift transition from discussing conceptual proposals to their practical execution, which will undoubtedly unlock new professional horizons for the youth of Turkmenistan.

Switzerland Opens Applications for Government Excellence Scholarships for Young Turkmen Researchers
24 Aug. 14:45The Swiss Government has officially opened the application cycle for its Excellence Scholarships for the 2027–2028 academic year. The program target young specialists and researchers from Turkmenistan seeking to conduct post-graduate research or pursue doctoral studies at top Swiss universities and research institutes.
Key applicant requirements:
A Master’s degree or equivalent academic/professional credential;
Age limit: born after December 31, 1991;
A detailed research proposal including a timeline, core methodology, and planned objectives;
An official letter of academic sponsorship from a host professor in Switzerland;
For applicants currently residing in Switzerland, the entry date must not precede August 1, 2026.
The grant includes a monthly allowance, health insurance coverage, partial housing subsidies, and travel expenses. Research fellowships range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Electronic application submissions will remain open through November 27, 2026. Application procedures for Turkmen citizens are overseen by the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
