Briefing in Moscow Highlights Turkmenistan’s Milestones and Neutrality Policy

Source

On September 30, the Embassy of Turkmenistan in the Russian Federation hosted a briefing dedicated to three major occasions: the 34th anniversary of the country’s independence, the 30th anniversary of its permanent neutrality, and the outcomes of the recent Halk Maslahaty (People's Council) session held in Ashgabat.

The event gathered journalists, members of the Turkmen diaspora in Russia, and Turkmen students studying at Russian universities. Attendees were presented with an overview of Turkmenistan’s achievements throughout its years of independence, as well as the country’s foreign policy priorities focused on peace and international cooperation.

Speakers placed special emphasis on the recent proposals of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov at the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly. A newly adopted constitutional law on the principles of peace and neutrality was described as a strategic milestone in reinforcing Turkmenistan’s role as a peace-oriented state.

The year 2025 was noted as particularly symbolic, marking both 30 years of Turkmenistan’s neutrality and the 80th anniversary of the United Nations. In connection with these anniversaries, a high-level international forum is scheduled to be held in Ashgabat this December.

Guests of the briefing also had the opportunity to review the published works of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov and National Leader of the Turkmen people Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov. The event concluded with a photo exhibition and a video presentation showcasing the country's progress.

On 15 December 2025, a ceremonial reception marking the National Day of the State of Qatar was held in Ashgabat. The event was hosted by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Qatar to Turkmenistan, Nasser Ahmed Mohammed Al-Taher.

The beyan.tm team was also present at the celebration.

The Guest of Honour from the Government of Turkmenistan was Minister of Trade and Foreign Economic Relations Nazar Agahanov.

In his address, the Ambassador highlighted the historical role of Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed Al Thani, the founder of modern Qatar, and emphasized Qatar’s active role in international mediation and peacebuilding efforts.

Special attention was given to the rapid development of bilateral relations between Qatar and Turkmenistan in 2025, supported by high-level mutual visits and close ties between the leaders of the two countries.

Guests were introduced to Qatari culture through an exhibition of traditional clothing, books about Qatar, national artifacts, and falcons — a symbol of the country’s heritage. The atmosphere was enriched by traditional music, while a calligrapher artistically wrote guests’ names upon request.
