On March 26-27, 2026, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Belarus, N. Shagulyyew, conducted a working visit to the Grodno region. According to the official website of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the visit was centered around festive events at the Yanka Kupala State University of Grodno. These celebrations were dedicated to the 35th anniversary of Turkmenistan’s Independence and the year 2026, themed "Independent, Permanently Neutral Turkmenistan — Home of Prosperity as Swift as a Stallion."
A significant part of the program included the presentation of President Serdar Berdimuhamedov’s new book, "Neutrality of Turkmenistan — A Bright Path of Peace and Trust." During high-level meetings with university leadership, the Ambassador discussed expanding academic cooperation and bilateral exchange of educational expertise. Ambassador Shagulyyew delivered a comprehensive speech to professors and students, detailing Turkmenistan's achievements over three and a half decades of independence and the symbolic meaning behind the current year's motto.
The cultural segment of the event featured vibrant performances by Turkmen students studying at the university. The program included poetry recitations and traditional musical performances, showcasing the rich cultural heritage of the Turkmen people to an international audience. Following the festivities, the Ambassador held a dedicated session with the students to discuss their academic progress and the importance of professional development. He encouraged the youth to represent their nation with pride and integrity throughout their studies abroad.
On the second day of the visit, the Ambassador toured the university campus, inspecting the educational facilities and the living conditions of Turkmen students in the dormitories. He noted the high standard of the university's infrastructure and its supportive environment for international students. This visit underscores the strong humanitarian and educational ties between Turkmenistan and Belarus, fostering mutual respect and providing essential support to the younger generation pursuing higher education abroad.
