The Head of State addressed the equestrian industry professionals and the citizens of Turkmenistan on the occasion of the National Day of the Turkmen Horse. According to the official statement, this year’s celebrations highlight the country's dynamic progress and its dedication to preserving ancient cultural roots. The President emphasized that Akhal-Teke horses represent a vital part of the national heritage and serve as a symbol of the people's historical journey and future aspirations.

The address underscores the global significance of the Akhal-Teke breed within the world's equestrian culture. It notes that these "heavenly horses" were developed through centuries of meticulous folk selection, becoming a source of national pride and a treasure of world civilization. The Head of State pointed out that the horse has always held a sacred place in the life of the Turkmen people, being featured prominently in national proverbs, traditions, and art.

Significant focus is placed on the modernization of the industry and the training of highly qualified specialists. The work of the Aba Annayev International Academy of Horse Breeding and the specialized Research and Production Center in Arkadag city is instrumental in maintaining the purity of the breed through scientific methods. Furthermore, the international achievements of the "Galkynysh" National Equestrian Games group were highlighted as a testament to the global prestige of Turkmen horsemanship.

Looking ahead, the government plans to host various equestrian sports events and cultural forums both domestically and abroad throughout 2026. Ongoing efforts are being made to increase the population of Akhal-Teke horses and to broaden international cooperation in the field of horse breeding. These strategic initiatives are designed to ensure that the fame of the Turkmen horse continues to grow on the global stage.

High school students in Detroit, Michigan, who maintain consistent school attendance can earn up to $1,000 in electronic gift cards. According to Fox News, high schoolers receive a $100 digital gift card for every week of uninterrupted class attendance. Students can earn $400 across four weeks, with total incentives reaching up to $1,000 during the 10-week winter period.

The attendance incentive model demonstrated strong results between January and March 2026, when approximately 12,800 high school students—representing 84% of the district's high school population—qualified for the payments. Concurrently, chronic absenteeism dropped from 64% to 54%. Following this success, the program has been extended through the 2026–2027 academic year and expanded to include students in grades 6–8, who will receive $50 for each week of full attendance.

The school district allocated $13.9 million from its overall budget to combat unexcused absences. The program maintains strict criteria: a single unexcused absence during any given school week forfeits the student's eligibility for that week's reward.
