Winners of the 4th integrated Olympiad "Talented Descendants of Oguz Khan" announced in Turkmenistan
10 Jun. 07:09The winners and runners-up of the 4th integrated Olympiad titled "Talented Descendants of Oguz Khan" have been officially announced in Turkmenistan. Organized by the Oguz Khan Engineering and Technology University, the academic competition targeted high school students in grades 9–12 across the nation. This year's intellectual event saw an unprecedented turnout, drawing over 22,000 student applicants nationwide, with only 68 elite finalists successfully qualifying for the grand finale.
According to a report published by the "Turkmenistan: Golden Age" news agency, a total of 21 students secured top podium placements following rigorous comprehensive testing in mathematics, physics, chemistry, and biology.
The coveted first-place awards were captured by three exceptional young scholars: Aygul Merdanova, a 9th-grade student from High School No. 86 in Ashgabat; Ilyas Silabow, an 11th-grade student from High School No. 41 in Turkmenabat, Lebap velayat; and Rukiya Atajanova, a 12th-grade student from High School No. 24 in Dashoguz, Dashoguz velayat.
Representing diverse schools from the capital city and all five provinces, other brilliant participants secured 7 second-place and 11 third-place finishes. Additionally, 32 finalists were recognized with special honorary mentions and consolation prizes for their outstanding performance. All high-achieving participants were honored with medals, official diplomas, and valuable corporate gifts provided by the host academic institution during a formal ceremony.
Letters of Gratitude were also presented to regional high school instructors, university professors, and organizing student volunteers for their dedication to executing the logistics of the event. In accordance with the official tournament regulations, all competition finalists have been officially inducted into the university’s prestigious "Talented Descendants of Oguz Khan" Golden Fund. Members of this selective institutional registry are granted academic preferences, special privileges, and admissions advantages when enrolling at the university.

The program target young specialists and researchers from Turkmenistan seeking to conduct post-graduate research or pursue doctoral studies at top Swiss universities and research institutes.
Key applicant requirements:
A Master’s degree or equivalent academic/professional credential;
Age limit: born after December 31, 1991;
A detailed research proposal including a timeline, core methodology, and planned objectives;
An official letter of academic sponsorship from a host professor in Switzerland;
For applicants currently residing in Switzerland, the entry date must not precede August 1, 2026.
The grant includes a monthly allowance, health insurance coverage, partial housing subsidies, and travel expenses. Research fellowships range from 6 to 12 months in duration. Electronic application submissions will remain open through November 27, 2026. Application procedures for Turkmen citizens are overseen by the Embassy of Switzerland in Baku.
