Turkmenistan has officially launched its newly constructed dry cargo vessel, "Gadamly," which has embarked on its maiden voyage from the international seaport. This vessel represents a significant milestone for the domestic maritime industry, having been fully engineered and assembled at the "Balkan" shipyard and repair facility. The launch ceremony, marking the vessel’s entry into the Caspian Sea, underscores the nation's growing capacity to produce high-end maritime assets independently.

The technical specifications of the "Gadamly" align with rigorous international maritime safety and quality standards. With a total deadweight capacity of 6,100 tons, the ship is equipped with state-of-the-art navigation systems and advanced automated control technologies. A highly trained crew of 14 specialists manages the vessel’s operations, ensuring efficient performance across international shipping routes.

The vessel's inaugural journey is directed toward the Port of Baku in Azerbaijan, signaling a boost in regional maritime logistics and trade connectivity. Following the successful completion of sea trials and equipment calibration, the "Gadamly" has proved its readiness for long-distance transport operations. The integration of this vessel into the national merchant fleet is expected to streamline cargo flows and enhance economic cooperation between Caspian littoral states.

The deployment of the "Gadamly" is a key component of a long-term state strategy aimed at modernizing the national merchant marine fleet. In recent years, Turkmenistan’s maritime infrastructure has been consistently reinforced with new tankers, cargo ferries, and specialized vessels. Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
