The Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the French Republic, Maksat Charyyev, participated in a commemorative event marking the 81st anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War. The ceremony brought together heads and representatives of diplomatic missions from the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) member countries. This collective tribute was dedicated to honoring the shared historical sacrifice and the victory over fascism.
The focal point of the commemoration was a wreath-laying ceremony at the Soviet military cemetery located near the commune of Noyers-Saint-Martin. This site serves as the largest burial ground for Soviet soldiers on French soil, including those who perished during World War II while fighting in the Resistance or as prisoners of war. The tribute emphasized the importance of preserving the memory of those who fought for the liberation of Europe.
The solemn event was attended by the ambassadors of Russia, Tajikistan, and Uzbekistan, as well as high-ranking officials from the embassies of Azerbaijan, Armenia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, and Kyrgyzstan. Participants observed a moment of silence to pay their respects to the millions of victims and heroes. The gathering highlighted the enduring significance of the historical bond between the nations of the former Soviet Union.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
