Ashgabat to Launch Special Bus Routes for Nowruz Festivities

To facilitate public access to the primary celebrations of the National Spring Holiday, Ashgabat’s transportation authorities have announced the deployment of special bus services. The main festivities are set to take place at the "Nowruz ýaýlasy" site, featuring the "White House of the Turkmens" in the Ak Bugday district. These dedicated routes are designed to offer seamless travel for residents and visitors wishing to attend the cultural events organized for International Nowruz Day.

Starting from March 20 until March 23, 2026, the temporary bus route No. 72 will operate on the "Autocombinat – Türkmeniň ak öýi – Autocombinat" circuit. This logistics plan aims to connect the capital city directly with the festival grounds in the Ahal region. The service is structured to accommodate the peak hours of the festivities, ensuring that commuters can travel safely and efficiently throughout the holiday period.

The operation is managed by the "Awtomobil ulag hyzmaty" Joint Stock Company, which has established dedicated communication channels for passenger inquiries regarding schedules and stop locations. By implementing these targeted transport solutions, the city aims to mitigate traffic congestion and provide a reliable alternative to private vehicles. The initiative underscores the commitment to high-quality public service during major national events.

Technical inspections and safety protocols have been finalized for the fleet assigned to these holiday routes. Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
