Turkmenistan’s National Jiu-Jitsu Team Wins 38 Medals at Balkan Open in Athens

Turkmenistan’s national jiu-jitsu team delivered an outstanding performance at the 20th Balkan Open Championship held in Athens, Greece, from September 11 to 14, 2025.

The team especially excelled during the final days of the tournament (September 13–14), earning medals in both “Ne Waza” and “No Gi” disciplines.

In the “Ne Waza” category:

  • Gold medalists: Soltanmyrat Nuryyev (62 kg), Shyhberdy Rakhmanov (69 kg), Bagtyyar Myradov (77 kg), Rakhad Kurbanov (85 kg, Masters).

  • Silver medals: Alyshir Jumamyradov (62 kg), Yslam Ovezov (69 kg), Eziz Yollyev (85 kg).

  • Bronze medals: Yslam Rejepov (62 kg), Dayanch Kullyev (69 kg), Annagurt Amanmyradov (77 kg).

In the “No Gi” category:

  • Champions: Yslam Rejepov (62 kg), Yslam Ovezov (69 kg).

  • Silver medalists: Suleyman Nuryyev (62 kg), Dayanch Kullyev (69 kg), Eziz Yollyev (85 kg).

  • Bronze medalists: Soltanmyrat Nuryyev (62 kg), Shyhberdi Rakhmanov (69 kg), Oguldursun Azimova, and Annagurt Amanmyradov (85 kg).

In total, Turkmen athletes claimed 38 medals: 14 gold, 12 silver, and 12 bronze, showcasing a high level of skill and preparation.

Turkmenistan and Spain share experience in combating desertification

A Spanish delegation led by Ambassador to Moscow Ricardo Martinez held talks with the Minister of Environmental Protection of Turkmenistan, focusing on strengthening bilateral cooperation in environmental matters.

During the meeting, the ambassador congratulated the Turkmen side on the International Day of Neutrality and thanked them for the warm welcome. The discussions were later reported on the official website of Turkmenistan’s environmental authority.

The agenda included cooperation in environmental protection, joint efforts to combat desertification, and measures to address plastic waste pollution. Special emphasis was placed on Turkmenistan’s presidential initiative announced at the UN General Assembly, proposing the establishment of a regional desertification prevention center for Central Asian countries, along with potential areas of collaboration.
