On May 26, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, Rashid Meredov, attended the high-level open debate of the UN Security Council in New York. The minister participated in the session, titled "Upholding the Purposes and Principles of the UN Charter and Strengthening the Multilateral System," following an official invitation from the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the People's Republic of China, which currently holds the presidency of the UN Security Council.

Addressing the Council, the Turkmen Foreign Minister elaborated on Turkmenistan's foreign policy course, heavily driven by the promotion of global peace, mutual trust, and preventive diplomacy under the central coordination of the UN. He brought special attention to the strategic initiatives driven by the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, emphasizing the foundational "Peace through Development" framework. In this setting, the minister highlighted the historical outcome of the 3rd UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries (LLDC-3) hosted in Avaza last August, urging global stakeholders to execute the Avaza Political Declaration and its decade-long Program of Action.

Furthermore, the diplomatic mission highlighted the "Dialogue is the Guarantee of Peace" philosophy, which inspired the UN General Assembly to declare 2025 as the "International Year of Peace and Trust." To expand these long-term commitments, the Turkmen side introduced a timeline of progressive initiatives, including the active development of the University of Peace and Neutrality, the drafting of a comprehensive Global Security Strategy, and a formal proposal to designate the year 2028 within the UN framework as the "International Year of International Law."
