Ambassador of Turkmenistan attends official celebrations marking the Day of Portugal
11 Jun. 14:18On June 9–10, 2026, the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the French Republic and the Portuguese Republic, M. Charyev, visited Terceira Island in the Azores to attend the official state events celebrating the Day of Portugal, Camões Day, and the Portuguese Communities.
According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan, the ambassador’s official itinerary included a formal diplomatic reception hosted by the President of the Portuguese Republic for heads of foreign missions. Additionally, the Turkmen diplomat attended ceremonial military parades featuring the Portuguese Armed Forces, alongside various cultural events organized to mark the national holiday.
During the protocol greetings, the Ambassador of Turkmenistan, together with other accredited heads of diplomatic missions, personally congratulated the President of the Portuguese Republic, António José Seguro. The ambassador conveyed warm greetings and congratulations on behalf of the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, while extending his best wishes for peace, welfare, and prosperity to the friendly people of Portugal.
On the sidelines of the national celebrations, the Turkmen diplomat held a series of bilateral meetings with Portuguese government officials and representatives of the international diplomatic corps. The discussions focused on exchanging views on matters of mutual interest and exploring new avenues to enhance bilateral political and economic cooperation between the two nations.
