Turkmenistan’s Deputy PM Nokeruly Atagulyyev Arrives in Azerbaijan for Official Visit
01 Apr. 09:24Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nokeruly Atagulyyev, arrived in Azerbaijan on April 1 for a working visit. This visit marks another step in Turkmenistan's active diplomacy aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and economic integration within the Caspian and Caucasus regions.
According to the APA news agency, the Turkmen official was welcomed at the Heydar Aliyev International Airport by high-ranking Azerbaijani dignitaries, including First Deputy Minister of Economy Elnur Aliyev and Deputy Foreign Minister Samir Sharifov. The high-level reception reflects the growing strategic partnership between Ashgabat and Baku.
Prior to his arrival in Azerbaijan, Atagulyyev concluded a successful visit to Georgia, where he held high-level talks with the Prime Minister and other senior officials. During his stay in Georgia, he also inspected the operations of the Port of Poti, a vital hub for regional trade. His current mission in Azerbaijan is expected to focus on:
• Transport and Logistics: Enhancing the efficiency of the Trans-Caspian transport route.
• Economic Cooperation: Expanding trade volume and exploring new investment sectors.
• Energy Partnership: Discussing collaborative projects in the energy sphere that benefit both nations.
Atagulyyev's regional tour underscores Turkmenistan's commitment to developing the East-West transport corridor, positioning the country as a central link in global trade networks connecting Asia and Europe.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
