Turkmenistan Welcomes Intercontinental Silk Road Rally Participants in Ashgabat
15 May. 10:31Turkmenistan has opened its borders to the participants of the 5th "Danube — Orkhon Silk Road" international tourist auto rally. The current expeditionary convoy navigating this historic transcontinental corridor consists of nine passenger vehicles and a delegation of 16 international motorists.
During their stay in Ashgabat, the foreign guests were received by local municipal and cultural officials. Due to its strategic geographical location along the ancient trade routes, Turkmenistan serves as a pivotal transit hub for the motorcade as it progresses toward its ultimate destination in East Asia.
The rally is co-organized by the "East-West Friendship Rally Association" in close partnership with the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY). The primary objective of this extensive initiative is to promote the tangible and intangible cultural heritage, historical sanctuaries, and diverse traditions of the nations situated along the Silk Road, thereby enhancing regional tourism.
The comprehensive itinerary of the rally spans a distance of approximately 9,000 to 11,000 kilometers. Commencing from the banks of the Danube River, the automotive expedition traverses multiple European and Asian territories before concluding its journey at the historic Orkhon monuments in Mongolia.
