Weekly Weather Outlook: Precipitation and Temperature Fluctuations in Turkmenistan

In the capital, residents should prepare for rainy spells and gusty winds reaching up to 15 meters per second. While nighttime temperatures in Ashgabat will hover between +2°C and +7°C, daytime highs are expected to fluctuate significantly, potentially reaching +17°C. Similarly, the western Balkan province will experience wet weather early in the week, with noticeably cooler temperatures along the Caspian coast compared to the inland areas.
The central and eastern territories, including Ahal, Mary, and Lebap, are set to experience a mixture of cloudy skies and rain showers. These regions will see a wide thermal range, with daytime temperatures climbing as high as +20°C in some areas despite the occasional cold breeze. Conversely, the northern Dashoguz province will face the week's lowest temperatures, with the mercury dropping to -6°C at night. Initial precipitation in the north may take the form of sleet or snow mixed with rain, although a gradual warming trend is anticipated as the week progresses, bringing daytime averages back above freezing.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
