Representatives from Turkmenistan participated in the 3rd International Carpet Festival, held in Baku, Azerbaijan, from May 1 to May 3, 2026. The delegation showcased the rich heritage of Turkmen carpet weaving, which is globally recognized for its intricate patterns and historical significance. The event served as a major platform for cultural exchange, allowing Turkmen specialists to present their unique handmade masterpieces to an international audience.

This year’s festival brought together a diverse group of carpet weavers and industry experts from numerous countries, including Azerbaijan, Turkey, Russia, Iran, Pakistan, Uzbekistan, Georgia, Kyrgyzstan, Morocco, Nepal, and Mexico. The international presence highlighted the global importance of preserving traditional weaving techniques while adapting to modern aesthetic standards. The Turkmen exhibition stood out for its technical precision and the deep symbolic meaning embedded in its traditional motifs.

The festival was organized by "Azerhalcha" OJSC and the Administration of the State Historical-Architectural Reserve "Icherisheher," with the strategic support of the Ministry of Economy of Azerbaijan and the Export and Investment Promotion Agency (AZPROMO). Set against the backdrop of Baku's historical Old City, the festival emphasized the enduring relevance of hand-woven carpets as both functional items and works of art.

Throughout the three-day event, participants engaged in professional networking and knowledge-sharing sessions. Beyond the display of exquisite textile products, the festival encouraged dialogue on the future of the industry, including sustainable production methods and the preservation of ethnic designs. The involvement of the Turkmen delegation further strengthened regional cultural ties and underscored the country's role as a leading center for traditional carpet artistry.
