Turkmenistan Gains a New Air Link: S7 Airlines to Launch Novosibirsk–Ashgabat Flights in 2026

S7 Airlines has announced the launch of a new international route connecting Novosibirsk with Ashgabat, further strengthening air connectivity with Turkmenistan. Ticket sales have already begun, with the first flight scheduled for March 31, 2026. The service will operate weekly on Tuesdays.

Flights will depart from Tolmachevo Airport in Novosibirsk at 12:55 AM, arriving in Ashgabat at 3:00 AM local time. The flight duration is approximately 4 hours and 5 minutes, and the route will be operated using Airbus A320 aircraft.

Travelers heading to Turkmenistan can choose between “Standard” and “Plus” fare options, each offering different baggage allowances and ticket change or refund conditions.

Return flights from Ashgabat to Novosibirsk will also take place on Tuesdays, with departure at 4:30 AM and arrival at 10:15 AM. The journey time on the return leg is estimated at 3 hours and 45 minutes.

Depending on the fare, passengers may select additional services such as checked baggage, preferred seating, or cabin class upgrades. S7 Airlines already operates regular flights on the Moscow–Ashgabat route, continuing to expand its presence in Turkmenistan. Turkmenistan Develops Bio-Agent to Neutralize Methane Emissions

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.

Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.

This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
