A Turkmen delegation led by the Ministry of Finance and Economy recently convened with the leadership of the UN Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (ESCAP). The discussions centered on the effective implementation of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and the successful presentation of national progress reports. Both parties emphasized the importance of continued analytical and consultative support to further enhance the nation's economic planning and reporting frameworks.

The dialogue highlighted key areas of cooperation, specifically focusing on the establishment of sustainable, efficient, and environmentally secure transport-logistics networks. The integration of digital technologies and the advancement of energy transition projects were identified as central pillars of the ongoing partnership. Collaborative efforts are being directed toward expanding transit corridors and fostering regional experience-sharing platforms to boost economic interconnectivity.

Environmental sustainability and climate action were also high on the agenda. Recognition was given to Turkmenistan’s proactive environmental policies, specifically the presidential initiative to establish a regional center for desertification control in Ashgabat. This proposed institution is intended to operate under the auspices of UN ESCAP, serving as a specialized hub for addressing ecological challenges in Central Asia and beyond.

The Executive Secretary of ESCAP commended Turkmenistan’s dynamic international presence and its leadership in hosting major global conferences for landlocked developing nations. Looking forward, the parties expressed commitment to strengthening their bilateral ties through upcoming high-level diplomatic visits and commemorative events. The meeting concluded with a mutual agreement to continue implementing large-scale infrastructure and socio-economic projects within the regional framework of the United Nations.

FC Barcelona and Spain midfielder Gavi (Pablo Paéz Gavira) is donating approximately €1.3 million to fund the construction of 150 homes for homeless and low-income individuals. The project will take place in his hometown of Los Palacios y Villafranca, located in the province of Seville.

According to Spanish media outlets, the development is designed to shelter around 300 people who face financial difficulties in purchasing or renting a home. The initiative is a purely charitable endeavor funded entirely by the footballer rather than a commercial real estate investment.

Specific details regarding construction timelines and eligibility criteria for housing recipients will be announced in subsequent phases of the project.
