The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkmenistan to the Republic of India, Shalar Geldynazarov, has been concurrently appointed as the head of the country's diplomatic mission to the Republic of Maldives. The announcement was officially released by the Turkmenistan State News Agency (TDH).
The corresponding Decree was signed by the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov. This strategic diplomatic appointment aligns with Ashgabat's foreign policy objectives to diversify its international partnerships and strengthen bilateral ties across South Asia.
The Maldives is a unique archipelagic nation in South Asia, situated in the equatorial waters of the Indian Ocean. The country is globally renowned as a premier international travel destination, characterized by its white-sand beaches, turquoise lagoons, and highly diverse marine ecosystems.
Shalar Geldynazarov becomes the historic first Ambassador of Turkmenistan accredited to the island republic. His dual accreditation is expected to establish a foundational framework for developing bilateral political dialogue, trade and economic links, and cultural-humanitarian exchanges between the two nations.
