The coaching staff of Turkmenistan’s youth weightlifting team has finalized the roster for the upcoming World Championships, set to take place in Egypt this May. According to the official website of the International Weightlifting Federation (IWF), the Turkmen delegation will consist of nine athletes—five girls and four boys—who have been selected based on their recent domestic and regional performances. The squad represents a strong blend of emerging talent prepared to compete at the highest international level.

In the girls' division, the team features Ogulshat Amanowa and Shabnam Kerimbayewa in the up to 53 kg category, Medina Amanowa (up to 63 kg), Asal Kerimbayewa (up to 77 kg), and Anamjan Rustamowa (up to 86 kg). These athletes have demonstrated significant progress in their training cycles, and their participation highlights the expanding success of women’s weightlifting in Turkmenistan. Each competitor will aim to secure podium finishes and set new personal records on the world stage.

The boys' lineup includes four strong contenders: Didarbek Jumabayew (up to 79 kg), Yslam Akmyradow (up to 94 kg), Süleýman Jafarow (up to 110 kg), and Saparbaý Atajanow in the over 110 kg category. The presence of athletes in the heavy and super-heavyweight divisions reflects the country’s tactical strength in these specific classes. The diverse weight distribution across the squad allows Turkmenistan to challenge for medals in multiple segments of the competition.

The championships are scheduled to take place from May 2 to May 8 in Ismailia, Egypt. For these young athletes, the event is not only an opportunity to win titles but also a critical platform for gaining international experience ahead of future Olympic cycles. Supported by the nation’s robust sports infrastructure, the Turkmen team heads to Egypt with the goal of showcasing the high standard of athletic training developed within the country.
