Barcelona winger Lamine Yamal is expected to significantly reduce the number of autographs he gives out to fans. According to Mundo Deportivo, the 18-year-old player is close to signing a deal with a company that specializes in selling sports merchandise featuring athlete signatures.
As part of the agreement, Yamal has been advised to stop signing items during fan meetups and informal events. The idea is to increase the rarity — and thus the value — of his autograph. In the future, those interested in obtaining his signature will be able to do so only via the company’s official website.
Discussions are also reportedly underway with FC Barcelona to reduce the number of autographs Yamal provides during scheduled club signing sessions.
This season, Yamal has played five matches for Barcelona and scored two goals. In September, he secured second place in the voting for the Ballon d'Or in the youth category — an award presented by France Football in partnership with UEFA.
