Ashgabat to Host 13th Taekwondo Championship for the Korean Ambassador’s Cup
15 Aug. 05:50The 13th Taekwondo Championship for the Ambassador’s Cup of the Republic of Korea in Turkmenistan will be held in Ashgabat on August 16–17. The competition will take place at the Martial Arts Arena of the Olympic Complex.
According to the Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ashgabat, the first tournament was held in 2010. Since then, the event has become a tradition and plays a role in strengthening sports cooperation between the two countries.
In 2017, national taekwondo teams from Turkmenistan and South Korea competed in the 5th Asian Indoor and Martial Arts Games hosted by Ashgabat.
Currently, around 500 people practice taekwondo in Turkmenistan.
