In a high-level meeting held in Kuala Lumpur, Turkmenistan and Malaysia discussed a strategic roadmap to bolster cooperation in the fields of agriculture and food security. Ambassador M. Mashalov and Minister Haji Mohamad bin Sabu examined various avenues for collaboration, emphasizing the need for technical exchange and joint economic ventures. The meeting served as a pivotal moment for aligning the agricultural agendas of both nations toward sustainable development.

Turkmenistan outlined its priorities for the partnership, which include the digitalization of the agro-industrial complex, the establishment of joint processing ventures, and the implementation of precision farming technologies. The Turkmen delegation highlighted an interest in Malaysia’s expertise regarding irrigation modernization and the cultivation of drought-resistant crops. Furthermore, streamlining export logistics and fostering eco-friendly production methods were identified as key areas for shared investment.

In response, the Malaysian Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security proposed the mutual trade of fresh produce and fruits between the two countries. Minister Haji Mohamad bin Sabu shared insights into Malaysia’s advancements in "smart farming" and sophisticated irrigation management. He also emphasized the role of scientific research, suggesting a direct partnership between the agricultural research institutes of both nations to facilitate academic and technical knowledge transfer.

To formalize these initiatives, both parties agreed to draft a Memorandum of Understanding between their respective agricultural ministries. Additionally, Malaysian specialists and investors were invited to participate in the upcoming "Agro Pack Turkmenistan - 2026" and "Food Turkmenistan 2026" international exhibitions in Ashgabat. These forums are expected to provide a concrete platform for showcasing technological innovations and securing bilateral trade agreements.
