An inspiring environmental event took place in Ashgabat as part of the festive "Last Bell" graduation ceremonies. The Minister-Counselor of the Embassy of the Russian Federation to Turkmenistan, Alexander Vasilyev, officially presented 20 weather-resistant, climate-adapted birdhouses to Ashgabat’s Secondary School No. 55. The core concept and technical blueprints of this unique ecological project were drafted by Ovezmyrat Sapargeldiyev, a talented 7th-grade student at the school.

The youth-led initiative was successfully implemented under the regional framework of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) project titled "Climate Education for Sustainable Development Goals and Climate Action" ("Climate Box"). This global educational endeavor is executed with the strategic financial and institutional support of the Russian Federation, aiming to foster climate-conscious mindsets among young students.

Ovezmyrat observed a noticeable decline in the urban sparrow population within city limits due to rapid urbanization and shifting climate conditions. To address this, he designed a specialized birdhouse structure optimized for harsh, high-temperature summer conditions. These modified nests maintain a safe internal microclimate, preventing overheating and providing local bird species with a secure environment to breed and care for their offspring.

During the official handover ceremony, a congratulatory speech by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Turkmenistan, Ivan Volynkin, was delivered to the audience. The Ambassador emphasized that the Russian Federation remains fully committed to funding and backing innovative youth initiatives focusing on environmental education, climate action, and sustainable development. Furthermore, he highly commended Russia’s robust partnership with Turkmenistan's academic institutions.
