Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan Expand Cooperation in Transport and Digital Infrastructure
02 Apr. 05:35The Minister of Digital Development and Transport of Azerbaijan, Rashad Nabiyev, met with a high-level Turkmen delegation led by the Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of Turkmenistan, Nokerguly Atagulyyev. The meeting focused on the current state of intergovernmental relations in the transport and communication sectors, emphasizing the critical role of both nations in securing efficient connectivity across the Caspian region. Both parties expressed a strong commitment to deepening their strategic partnership through coordinated efforts and mutual support.
A significant portion of the discussions was dedicated to exploring future opportunities for infrastructure development and the digitalization of logistics services. The officials reviewed key issues on the agenda, including the optimization of transit routes and the enhancement of cargo flow between Asia and Europe. By aligning their transport strategies, Turkmenistan and Azerbaijan aim to strengthen the competitiveness of regional corridors and provide more reliable services for international trade partners.
According to reports from the "AZERTAC" news agency, the dialogue also covered the implementation of advanced technologies in the communication sector and the further modernization of port facilities. The meeting concluded with a mutual understanding of the priority tasks ahead, aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth through improved regional integration. The ongoing high-level exchanges reflect the shared vision of both countries to transform the Trans-Caspian route into a leading global transport hub.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
