During a ceremonial event marking the continuation of the pipeline from Serhetabat to Herat, Turkmenistan’s National Leader and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, expressed gratitude to former U.S. President Donald Trump for his endorsement of the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project.

Berdimuhamedov noted that the United States was among the earliest countries to back this major regional energy initiative. He emphasized the steady development of Turkmenistan-U.S. relations over the years, especially in trade, investment, and private sector partnerships.

He highlighted the role of the Turkmen-American Business Council and the presence of U.S. companies like Boeing, John Deere, Caterpillar, Sikorsky, and General Electric operating in Turkmenistan. The consulting firm Brownstein, which provides strategic guidance for the TAPI project, was also commended.

He recalled the Third UN Conference on Landlocked Developing Countries held in 2025 in Awaza, where the “Awaza Political Declaration” was unanimously adopted at the 80th session of the UN General Assembly. Berdimuhamedov acknowledged the congratulatory message from President Trump on this occasion, expressing sincere appreciation.
