Turkmen Students and Athletes Secure Over 800 International Medals in Early 2026
02 May. 07:11During a recent session of the Cabinet of Ministers, it was reported that Turkmen school and university students have achieved extraordinary success on the international stage, securing a total of 807 medals between January and April 2026. This significant haul of awards from various academic competitions reflects the nation’s ongoing commitment to fostering a highly educated and competitive younger generation capable of excelling in global intellectual arenas.
The reporting period was also marked by a surge in domestic hosting of international academic events. Turkmen higher education institutions organized six major international olympiads and seven scientific-practical conferences. Additionally, the successful execution of the III International Mathematical Olympiad for schoolchildren served as a key platform for promoting analytical skills and fostering international academic cooperation within the country's borders.
Progress in the scientific and medical sectors remains a cornerstone of the national agenda. Research is currently focused on implementing advanced diagnostic and treatment methods within clinical practice. Notably, the Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov Charitable Fund has continued its mission by financing complex surgeries and specialized medical treatments for children in need, demonstrating the state's prioritized focus on social welfare and public health.
In the realm of athletics, national team members contributed 169 medals to the country's achievements in the first third of the year. President Serdar Berdimuhamedov, upon reviewing the reports, emphasized the necessity of modernizing the educational curriculum to include more innovation-driven technologies. He further instructed officials to ensure the optimal management of sports facilities and to maintain the continuous improvement of healthcare services to meet international standards.

Entrance Examinations for Higher and Secondary Vocational Institutions Completed in Turkmenistan
24 Aug. 18:38Turkmenistan has officially concluded its admission campaign for higher and secondary vocational educational institutions for the 2026–2027 academic year. Held between July 13 and August 24, 2026, the examination process was conducted under state commission oversight and public supervision. Notably, entrance exams at the S.A. Niyazov Turkmen Agricultural University and the International University of Industrialists and Entrepreneurs were administered using a standardized testing format.
Following the examination results, over 18,000 applicants were admitted to higher education institutions. Under the newly implemented "Strategy for the Development of Higher Professional Education in Turkmenistan for 2026–2052," several new academic tracks were established across specialist, bachelor's, and master's degree levels, aligning with the "Atlas of Future Professions." Priority admission status was granted to international competition winners, top athletes, and high school medalists.
