An official ceremony was held in Ashgabat to present state accreditation certificates to educational institutions of Turkmenistan that successfully cleared the evaluation process. According to the press service of the Ministry of Education of Turkmenistan, the development of the national accreditation framework is a logical outcome of continuous systemic reforms. Based on the state educational standards adopted in 2020, curricula for more than a thousand specialties and training programs were modernized between 2021 and 2024.

Under the inaugural annual plan, a total of 8 educational institutions representing various levels of education applied for accreditation. Following comprehensive, objective, and rigorous evaluations conducted by expert panels, 6 institutions were awarded the official certificates:

Ashgabat Specialized Secondary School No. 74 "Bagtyýar nesiller" (focusing on advanced foreign language studies);

Ashgabat Secondary School No. 29;

Hydyr Deryayev Pedagogical School;

Mary Velayat Financial and Economic Secondary Professional School;

State Energy Institute of Turkmenistan;

Institute of Telecommunications and Informatics of Turkmenistan.

The inclusion of general secondary, vocational, and higher education institutions within the accreditation scope demonstrates the establishment of a unified quality culture across the country. Aligning national educational standards with the criteria of the European Higher Education Area, UNESCO classifications, and the principles of the Lisbon Recognition Convention has paved the way for Turkmen education to meet global benchmarks.

The strengthening foundations of the national educational system are also evident in global performance indicators. Notably, in 2025, 14 higher education institutions from Turkmenistan entered the Times Higher Education rankings, while 12 secured placements in the UI GreenMetric world rankings. In Turkmenistan, state accreditation certificates are granted to qualified educational institutions for a term of 5 years.

Source

Starting November 1, 2026, Turkey will restrict access to social media platforms for children under the age of 15 following a new regulatory decree issued by the Presidential Cyber Security Directorate and published in the Resmi Gazete. Under the new framework, users aged 15 to 18 will undergo mandatory age verification through the "e-Devlet" portal. Accounts for this age group will feature default private settings, with explicit bans on live streaming, targeted behavioral ads, and profile recommendation algorithms.

Social media networks are also required to provide parents and legal guardians with control tools to monitor usage time, location tracking, and financial transactions. Existing active accounts must complete the age verification process by March 31, 2027.
