Delegations from Turkmenistan’s premier higher education institutions have participated in the final sequence of events for the Erasmus+ HWCA international project titled “Strengthening Higher Education in the Water Sector for Climate Resilience and Security in Central Asia.” The concluding convention was hosted on the shores of Lake Issyk-Kul in the Kyrgyz Republic, utilizing the corporate facilities of the Ton Azure hotel complex.

At the inter-regional level, the executive coordination and operational management of this academic consortium were directed by the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic named after Kazy Dikambaev. Throughout its lifecycle, the project functioned as a strategic vehicle for synchronizing Central Asian and European educational methodologies in environmental and water resource management.

The institutional partners representing the Turkmen side at the final summation sessions were the Turkmen Agricultural Institute and the Magtymguly Turkmen State University. The educational forum also consolidated administrative executives, senior faculty, and subject-matter experts from universities across Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan, and several European nations.

During the structural itinerary, the international participants delivered comprehensive progress analyses and evaluated the project’s pedagogical yields. While the Diplomatic Academy of Kyrgyzstan offered a macro-level operational overview, the Kazakh-German University introduced its Regional Studies and Sustainable Development Program. Simultaneously, European institutional partners, including the IHE Delft Institute for Water Education, the University of Bergamo, and the University of Reims Champagne-Ardenne, shared best practices regarding joint curricula deployment.

According to data released by the Turkmen Agricultural Institute, active participation within the Erasmus+ HWCA framework enabled the university to execute a profound modernization of its academic programs dedicated to water resource engineering. The collaboration facilitated the direct integration of specialized modules on climate diplomacy into the core curricula while significantly upgrading the independent research capacities and international scientific networking of the faculty.

A rye-wheat loaf preserved in a freezer for 36 years has been put on public display as part of the permanent exhibition at the Deutschlandmuseum in Berlin. Dubbed "The Last Loaf of the GDR," it was originally purchased on June 26, 1990, by student Michael Hagedorn, who bought an extra loaf fearing potential food shortages amidst the economic unification of East and West Germany.

The museum's director, Robert Rückel, described the unusual artifact as a unique poignant symbol of everyday human decisions during times of monumental geopolitical change. To maintain its preserved state, the museum installed a custom refrigeration unit where the historical loaf remains permanently frozen for visitors to view.
