President Serdar Berdimuhamedov has officially signed a decree authorizing the organized travel of Turkmen citizens to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for the annual Hajj pilgrimage. This decision aligns with the state's long-standing commitment to supporting religious freedom and facilitating the spiritual aspirations of the nation's faithful. The pilgrimage is regarded as a sacred journey, and the government has taken comprehensive measures to ensure its successful execution.
According to the official document, a delegation consisting of 289 pilgrims will travel to Saudi Arabia between May 21 and June 11, 2026. These individuals have been selected to fulfill one of the core pillars of Islam, participating in the traditional rites at the holy sites of Mecca and Medina. The timing of the trip is meticulously planned to coincide with the global Hajj season, allowing the Turkmen group to join millions of other believers in this profound religious experience.
To facilitate the logistics of the journey, the "Turkmenhowayollary" State Service has been mandated to provide a dedicated special flight for the pilgrims. This round-trip air service will be operated using the agency's own resources, ensuring that the travelers reach their destination and return home safely and comfortably. Such logistical support from the national carrier is a key component of the state’s efforts to streamline the complex international travel requirements involved in the pilgrimage.
The state-sponsored Hajj program reflects the harmony between modern governance and traditional spiritual values in Turkmenistan. By providing organized transportation and administrative assistance, the government ensures that citizens can focus entirely on their spiritual journey. As the departure date approaches, the relevant authorities are working to finalize all preparations to uphold the dignity and well-being of the pilgrims throughout their stay in the holy lands.
