The creative team of the Nurmuhammet Andalyp State Music and Drama Theater of Dashoguz Velayat is finalizing the production of a new play titled "Jennet Mukamy" ("Heavenly Melody"). The premiere of the performance was prepared as a creative gift and will be presented to the audience in Dashoguz during the Days of Culture of Turkmenistan held in Balkan Velayat, according to the "Turkmenistan: Golden Age" news outlet.
Based on a national legend and enriched with musical and folklore elements, this impressive stage work was directed by Bekmyrat Hallyyew based on the piece by G. Danatarow and N. Soyunow. The story, centered around love and the multifaceted, miraculous power of the Turkmen dutar, takes the audience back to the youth of Baba Gammar, who is widely popular as the craftsman of the very first dutar and the patron of this national musical instrument.
Endowed with an astonishing talent, young Gammar finds himself in a distant land, where he falls in love with the local ruler's only daughter. The protagonist faces numerous trials and obstacles set by his enemies, and furthermore, his beloved falls gravely ill. Following the advice of a wise elder, Gammar crafts a dutar, and the magical melody of the instrument heals the girl.
The new performance features renowned actors of the theater, including the Honored Artists of Turkmenistan H. Shyhyyew and M. Seyidow. The role of Gammar is masterfully portrayed by B. Dowliyew, while the ruler's daughter is played by M. Aristanowa.
