The National Leader of the Turkmen People Inspects the 30,000-Seat Mosque Construction in Arkadag City
04 Apr. 18:41During a working visit to the city of Arkadag, the Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, toured the construction site of a major new mosque designed to accommodate 30,000 worshippers. As a centerpiece of the city's second development phase, the mosque's architectural progress, specifically the coloration of its domes and its external aesthetic features, was thoroughly reviewed. The National Leader emphasized that this sacred structure must embody the spiritual depth and cultural identity of the nation.
In his assessment of the construction progress, the National Leader focused on the interior and exterior finishing works, as well as the landscaping of the surrounding areas. He issued specific instructions regarding the maintenance of high standards of cleanliness and the use of premium materials for the mosque’s decoration. The National Leader underscored that as a house of worship, the building must offer a harmonious environment that combines traditional motifs with modern comfort and durability.
A significant part of the inspection involved the presentation of various prayer carpet (namazlyk) designs to be laid in the mosque. The National Leader suggested that the colors of these carpets should perfectly align with the overall design palette of Arkadag city. He recommended consulting with religious leaders and art experts to select designs that reflect spiritual values while ensuring visual harmony within the grand prayer hall.
The Chairman of the State Committee for the Construction of Arkadag City, D. Orazov, provided detailed updates on the technical aspects of the project and the timeline for completion. The National Leader concluded the inspection by highlighting the strategic importance of this landmark project for the community. He offered his blessings for the successful completion of the construction, stating that the mosque will serve as a symbol of unity and faith for future generations.

Specialists at the International Science and Technology Park of the Academy of Sciences of Turkmenistan, led by Durdymyrat Gadamov and Altyn Rahmanova, have developed a new-generation bio-agent designed to neutralize soil methane emissions. The solution utilizes local bacteria adapted to the regional climate, which harness methane monooxygenase to convert methane into carbon dioxide and water.
Methane is a major contributor to global warming, with a heat-trapping capacity in the atmosphere significantly higher than that of carbon dioxide. The newly developed bio-agent features high efficiency in industrially congested areas, cost-effectiveness through the use of local raw materials, and complete safety for human health and the environment.
This scientific breakthrough aligns with Turkmenistan's sustainable development strategy, supporting its commitments under the Global Methane Pledge to enhance environmental oversight in the energy sector.
