Today, the Cultural Center of the Embassy of the Republic of Turkey in Ashgabat hosted a solemn ceremony commemorating the 10th anniversary of Democracy and National Unity Day, a historic milestone in Turkey's modern history. The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Turkey to Turkmenistan, Ahmet Demirok, delivered an official address to the gathered dignitaries. The Ambassador recalled that exactly ten years ago (on July 15, 2016), a coup attempt was decisively thwarted by the solidarity, courage, and resolve of the Turkish people.

In his address, Ambassador Demirok expressed profound gratitude to Turkmenistan for its long-standing friendship and strategic solidarity. On behalf of the Turkish nation, he extended sincere thanks to the leadership of Turkmenistan — the National Leader of the Turkmen people and Chairman of the Halk Maslahaty, Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, and the President of Turkmenistan, Serdar Berdimuhamedov, for their dedication to fraternal values and good-neighborly relations.

As part of the official program, the Mufti recited prayers in honor of the fallen heroes. Concluding his speech, the Ambassador paid tribute to the martyrs of the 2016 events and wished health and prosperity to the veterans. Following the formal session, guests toured a dedicated photography exhibition illustrating the key historical moments of that pivotal period.
