Tatarstan Plans to Open a Trade House in Ashgabat

The Republic of Tatarstan intends to establish a trade house in Turkmenistan to expand mutual trade volumes. The announcement was made by Tatarstan’s Minister of Industry and Trade, Oleg Korobchenko, following the tenth meeting of the Turkmen–Tatarstan joint working group on trade, economic, scientific-technical, and cultural cooperation, held in Ashgabat on November 20–21.

During the bilateral discussions, Tatarstan’s representative expressed readiness to launch a trade house in Ashgabat to boost commercial activity between the two sides.

According to Korobchenko, trade turnover between Tatarstan and Turkmenistan exceeded 35 million USD in 2024. He added that by the end of the year the figure may reach 50 million USD.

President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has presented U.S. President Donald Trump with two traditional wooden ayvans featuring intricate Uzbek woodcarving craft. According to The New York Times, the structures have already arrived in Washington, D.C., and assembly has begun in West Potomac Park, where Trump plans to establish the "National Garden of American Heroes."

U.S. Department of the Interior spokesperson Cathy Martin stated that park visitors will be able to view the ayvans starting this autumn. Uzbekistan's Ambassador to the U.S. Furkat Sidikov shared on X (Twitter) that the gift serves as a symbol of friendship and strategic partnership between the two nations. The report also highlights other notable foreign gifts received by Trump, including a luxury aircraft from Qatar and a pair of cheetahs from Saudi Arabia.
