Preparations for the International Economic Forum "Russia – Islamic World: KazanForum-2026" are entering their final stage in Kazan. During a high-level organizational meeting, the Head of Tatarstan, Rustam Minnikhanov, announced that the forum will host a series of pivotal intergovernmental discussions. Specifically, meetings between the co-chairs of intergovernmental commissions from Turkmenistan and other partner nations are scheduled to take place, highlighting the forum's role as a major hub for bilateral diplomacy.

The 2026 forum will prioritize key sectors such as Islamic finance, halal industry, investment opportunities, and the socio-economic role of women. The event holds particular cultural significance this year as Kazan celebrates its status as the Cultural Capital of the Islamic World. Consequently, the agenda features a summit of culture ministers from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) member states. Statistics show that OIC nations currently account for nearly half of Tatarstan's total foreign trade turnover.

To facilitate international attendance, dedicated 24-hour consular points will operate at Moscow and Kazan airports from May 10 to 20. The forum, scheduled for May 12–17, is expected to draw representatives from over 60 countries. The core business program, consisting of more than 120 specialized events, will be hosted at the Kazan Expo International Exhibition Center on May 14–15, providing a dynamic environment for networking and trade negotiations.

Turkmenistan will have a significant presence at the event with its own national pavilion in the exhibition area. The pavilion is designed to showcase the country’s primary investment projects and its potential for expanded economic cooperation. This platform will allow international delegates to explore partnership opportunities with Turkmenistan, further integrating the nation into the broader Islamic economic network.
