In Slovakia, the "Hlas-SD" party, a member of the ruling government coalition, has drafted a legislative amendment aimed at completely banning children under the age of 16 from using social media platforms. The party's leader, Matúš Šutaj Eštok, emphasized during a press conference that this regulatory measure has become critical to protecting the minds and well-being of the younger generation from the adverse effects of social media.

According to the new bill, a specialized framework will also be established for teenagers aged 16 to 18, ensuring a higher standard of protection for their personal data and residential addresses online. The country's Minister of Education, Tomáš Drucker, announced that the government is scheduled to review the draft legislation this August. If approved, the new restrictions and compliance standards will officially come into effect in January 2027.
